Description
Astounding sunlight and a climber dwarfed by the elements result in this exceptional shot that is the essence of adventure. Ice climber Will Gadd spotted a newly formed ice pillar on the right side of Lake Louise Falls in Banff National Park, Canada, and tackled it with photographer Kennan Harvey capturing the action.
“The success of this image replies upon the climber, Will Gadd, who climbs ice with more finesse than anyone I know,” says Kennan. “It looks like he is floating up an impossible column, which he was, happily and with a bit of playfulness at the same time. A true master!”
About the photographer: Kennan Harvey has been living and breathing adventure photography for over 25 years. He lives with his wife and daughter in a self-built, solar-powered home in the foothills of Colorado’s San Juan Mountains, and gets up before sunrise every day, anticipating amazing light and creativity. He counts bad weather, narrow escapes, perseverance and luck as some of the many highlights of his photography career.
